General Membership Eligibility

Subject to the articles, an individual who meets the following criteria can get a membership of
the organization:

  • Resident of Niagara Region
  • Legally residing in Canada
  • Aged 18 years or above or legal age
  • Deemed to have ethnic Nepalese origin status (immediate or extended family
    members connection to Nepal/Nepalese is accepted)
  • Applied for and been accepted membership application and paid the required membership dues

General members can participate in the selection of the board of directors. The term of membership for voting members shall be two years or the running or specified term, subject to renewal in accordance with the organization’s policies. The term of a voting member who obtains a “Lifelong Membership” shall be for life or until the termination of the organization.

Application for Membership

A person may apply to the board for membership in the organization, and the person becomes a
member upon the board’s acceptance of the application.

Membership Fees and Dues

Members shall have the following fee structures.
● General membership: $20 per term
● Life membership: $100 for an individual and $150 for a couple
● Board of directors membership: Additional $100 per term must be paid within 7 days from the date the board of directors is officially nominated. Failure to receive the payment from any board of directors, the board revokes the member(s) from the board of directors and replace(s) them with the next best candidate(s).

Transferring Membership

Membership shall not be transferred from one individual to another.

Discipline of Members

The executive committee shall have the authority to take disciplinary action, suspend, or expel
any member from the organization for any one or more of the following grounds:
a. Violating any provision of the articles, by-laws, or written policies of the organization
and general provision of incorporation of canada for not-for-profit organization.
b. Carrying out any conduct which may be detrimental to the organization as determined by
the board in its sole discretion.
c. For any other reason that the board in its sole and absolute discretion considers
reasonable, having regard to the purpose of the organization.
